TRENDS
Research and Advisory continues its African tour and lands in Ethiopia and then
proceeds to Kenya. TRENDS delegation has just wrapped up a research cooperation
mission in Egypt, with the aim of expanding its global outreach. The Center’s
objective is to act as a global research and knowledge bridge that anticipates
events and promotes visions that contribute to shaping the future.
The
TRENDS delegation, headed by CEO Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, will discuss
with a number of think tanks and scientific research prospects for cooperation
with the aim of strengthening partnerships and reading the events of the
African continent closely, as it has become the focus of wide international
attention.
TRENDS
will discuss cooperation prospects with the Institute for Peace and
Security Studies (IPSS) at the Addis Ababa University, the Institute
of Foreign Affairs IFA, affiliated with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, the Institute of Political Studies (IPS), and the Ethiopian Economic
Association (EEA).
Regional Conference
TRENDS
delegation will participate in a regional conference in Addis Ababa, organized
by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFE), affiliated to the Ethiopian Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. The conference shall be held on Thursday, September 21 and
is entitled "Security Dynamics in the Red Sea: The Need for Dialogue and
Cooperation at a Time of Global Networking."
Dr.
Mohammed Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, will speak at the conference on the subject of
Prospects for Gulf-African relations.
TRENDS at Nairobi International Book Center
In Kenya,
TRENDS Research and Advisory, shall be the first Arab research center, to participate
in the Nairobi International Book Fair 2023. TRENDS’ special stand shall
feature research publications covering the scientific, political, security,
economic and military fields. Moreover, the publications collections shall
include TRENDS encyclopedia and publications on political Islam movements. TRENDS Center will organize a discussion session
at the Nairobi Book Fair entitled "Constraints to the deployment of
renewable energy to Africa." The TRENDS delegation to the exhibition will
discuss with Kenyan think tanks ways of joint cooperation to enhance its
research vision and its global role. These include the Horn International
Institute for Strategic Studies, the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research
and Analysis (KIPPRA), the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) and the
Botho Emerging Markets Group.

Global will also launch a “Nairobi Podcast”
as part of its African tour.
Global TRENDS
Dr.
Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali said that the Center's participation in the Nairobi
International Bookfair falls within the Center's interest in African studies
and the continent's issues. TRENDS’ first engagement with the African continent
reflects the Center’s keenness to keep a qualitative and effective role in
regional and global cultural forums. It is an embodiment of TRENDS' strategy of
enhancing the spread of scientific and research knowledge in all international
forums, especially book fairs. Such gatherings bring peoples closer and attract
diverse thinkers and researchers, academics and international publishing
houses.
He
stressed that the selection of the Nairobi Book Fair is part of TRENDS' plan to
move to new regions. Regional book fairs in Africa constitute important
platforms with a global cultural dimension that fall in line with the center's
presence in the global cultural and knowledge space.
Dr.
Al-Ali pointed out that the Nairobi exhibition is an opportunity to learn about
new cultural aspects of knowledge with an international dimension. Furthermore,
it provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about TRENDS' research
products and exchange experiences.
First Event in Africa
Rawda
AlMarzouqi, Director of Exhibitions and Distribution Department, said that TRENDS
will participate in the Nairobi bookfair with a package of publications, which
are characterized by diversity. They review issues of interest to the
international community. She indicated that this bookfair is significant
because it is held in an African country and it is the first such engagement
for TRENDS Research and Advisory. It is an international cultural event, held
against the backdrop of the emerging political, economic and social
transformations taking place in the African continent. The Nairobi Bookfair is
an opportunity to meet with new publishing houses, writers, researchers and
publishers.
TRENDS
began its African tour a few days ago in Egypt, during which it inaugurated its
virtual office in Cairo. The office is part of its integrated research vision
to expand its outreach in a way that enhances its studies and research output.
This expansion help the Center achieves its goals as a global knowledge hub. It
connects the Center with regional and international think tanks. The office
includes a diversified research unit that supports TRENDS' areas of work. TRENDS
Research and Advisory has signed an MoU with the Information and Decision
Support Center of the Egyptian Council of Ministers. The Center signed a
cooperation protocol with the aim of enhancing scientific, research and
academic cooperation between the two parties in fields and issues of common
interest. The two sides shall benefit from the mutual accumulated scientific
and research expertise. The TRENDS delegation and the Coptic Evangelical
Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) also reviewed the prospects for
cooperation between the two sides. They expressed their intention to promote
scientific research, spread knowledge and promote the values of tolerance, coexistence,
reject violence and hatred.
