TRENDS Research and Advisory
organized a panel discussion on scientific research and its role in
anticipating and analyzing events. The guest speaker was His Excellency
Ambassador Riyad Omar Al Akbari, Permanent Representative of the Republic of
Yemen to the League of Arab States.
Ambassador Al Akbari discussed
with a number of TRENDS researchers in the seminar the significance of
scientific research in providing a deeper understanding of the events and
challenges facing the world and the possibility of using the results to foresee
the future and make appropriate decisions.
Ambassador Al Akbari stressed
that scientific research is an essential tool for sustainable development, and
a fundamental pillar for sound decision-making. He indicated that Yemen faces great
challenges, including war, humanitarian crisis and the impact of climate change.
He stressed the importance of scientific research in finding deliverable solutions
to these challenges.
Ambassador Al Akbari reviewed the
Yemeni experience in the field of scientific research. He explained that Yemen
has great potential in this field, but the country faces a number of
challenges, including low levels of funding, lack of infrastructure and brain
drain.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, welcomed Ambassador Al Akbari and said that scientific research is a strategic necessity to promote sustainable development which represents the right track to a deeper understanding of events and challenges. Genuine research helps in foreseeing the future and making appropriate decisions.
Dr. Al-Ali stressed that TRENDS Research
and Advisory attaches great importance to scientific research and is keen to
support efforts to enhance its role, especially by engaging the young
generations.
The panel discussion recommended
the need to increase investment in scientific research, develop research
infrastructure and enhance cooperation between research institutions.
