As part of Trends Research and
Advisory’s efforts to promote relations and enhance partnerships with international
and regional organizations, the Center held deep discussions with the World
Trade Organization officials in Geneva. The discussions covered areas of common
interest and explored opportunities to support the research partnership with the
WTO’s Ministerial Conference in its thirteenth session, which will be held in
Abu Dhabi in the first quarter of 2024.
The meeting brought together Trends Center researchers and World Trade Organization officials. The two sides expressed their keen interest in enhancing ongoing cooperation in conducting specialized economic research and studies. They discussed the opportunity to hold a joint strategic dialogue on enhancing economic development and sustainability.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali,
CEO of Trends Research and Advisory, expressed his hope for enhancing fruitful
cooperation between Trends and the WTO. He stressed the significance of
strengthening this cooperation, that leads to the promotion of sound knowledge for
analysing emerging events and delivering forward-looking visions in the economic
field, especially in the field of international trade.
Mr. Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy-Director General of WTO welcomed cooperation with TRENDS in the field of scientific research and economic analysis. He praised its forward-looking vision, qualitative research work and diverse publications.
The WTO’s is keen to develop a
successful research cooperation with Trends Center. So, the audience was
attended by two senior WTO officials, Mr. Samer Saif El-Yazal,
Head, Arab & Middle-East Regional Desk, and Mr. Mustafa
Sadni Jalab, from the WTO’s executive management.
The dialogue meeting between Trends researchers and the WTO officials, took place at the WTO headquarters in Geneva. It is part of a series of dialogues with global research centers to enhance mutual cooperation, build knowledge partnerships, and exchange information and experiences.
This series of dialogues, which
began in Davos and Geneva, complements previous dialogues in Asia and Africa,
all of which shall enhance Trends' global role and expand its outreach.
