Dr. Serhat Süha Çubukçuoğlu is a Senior Researcher at TRENDS Research and Advisory in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as well as an advisory board member in energy geopolitics and maritime security at Koç University’s Maritime Forum (KÜDENFOR) in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Serhat is a geopolitical strategist working at the intersection of policy analysis, consultancy, and media. With twenty years of experience across four continents, his expertise is in policy-oriented qualitative research and advisory focusing on the Middle East. Dr. Serhat earned his doctorate degree in international affairs from Johns Hopkins University SAIS in Washington DC, and his master's degree from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Earlier in his academic career, he received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and an MBA degree, both from The University of Edinburgh in the UK.
Dr. Serhat frequently appears on regional media networks both as a commentator and a moderator, reflecting on the ongoing politico-economic developments and strategic discussions. Also, he is a regular contributor to various outlets including NATO's Maritime Security Center of Excellence (MARSEC CoE), The Atlantic Council, Cambridge University's MENAF Manara Magazine, The Fletcher Forum of World Affairs, and Gulf State Analytics, a Washington DC-based geopolitical risk consultancy. His current research focus is on Turkish foreign policy in the Middle East.
